Crochet Challenge: Make a scrap yarn project

Two-Sided Scrap Owl

Challenge:  Now that your yarn is all nicely organized, make a scrappy yarn project.

Answer:  I had been wanting to use up some little bitty bits of scrap yarn and these cute little guys did the trick!  They make cute danglies on my tote that is holding an afghan project!  One side is awake, the other is asleep.  I incorporated ideas from 3 different patterns to make them.

A nice bonus:  none of the ends had to be woven in because they are used as part of the stuffing :)
Two-Sided Scrap Owl
  1. Pattern for main body from "Owl Key Chain Pattern"
  2. Pattern and instructions for ear tufts, wings, and white of eyes from "Easy Crochet Owl"
  3. Idea to use French knot "awake" eyes from "Crochet Owl"
I improvised “sleepy” eye embroidery to look like the sleepy eye buttons from “Owl Key Chain Pattern” (#1 above).

To connect the owls together with hanging chain: Sc twice in same space in top of one owl, ch 50, sc twice in same space in top of other owl, sl st in back ridge of each ch across to 1st owl and finish off.
